About Green Estate Recycling
Based, in Sheffield, our waste recycling business operates throughout South Yorkshire. There are two main aspects to the business; green waste and timber recycling.
Green waste products
Operating from Manor Oaks Farm Cottages, Sheffield, we have a drop-off facility, where suitable green waste can be disposed of. Please note that there is a charge for this service, depending on load-size. This green waste is processed and recycled into our own soil-improver, which is available for collection. Bulk-loads are available, or we have a bag-your-own facility, where you can buy Green Estate soil-improver for £1.00 per bag. Each heavy-duty compost sack holds around 40 litres.
Our soil-improver undergoes routine quality testing and we are proud to have achieved and retained the industry standard PAS100 Certification for many years now.
Our aim is to collect timber throughout South Yorkshire preventing it entering into the waste stream. We don’t just offer customer savings, we also provide customer satisfaction that the timber collected will be recycled and upcycled, and then sold within our shop.
The shop employs both part time staff and volunteers, helping people get back into work whilst providing a cheap source of timber for our customers. I have attached a leaflet about the business and would like to ask you to consider using our company for collections of any timber you may have.
Whilst we are generally cheaper than using a skip for a timber collection, it would require a designated area for us to pick up from. We try to collect wood within 24 hours of receiving a request. Charges are £100 per load for timber which can be upcycled, such as pallets and crates etc. and £150 for poor quality timber which can only be recycled for bio-mass.
The timber is manually loaded into our vans, reducing the gaps that normally occur when filling skips; the van is caged and can carry a load equivalent to a 14-cubic yard skip.

Green Estate Recycling was originally set up in 2004 as a pilot initiative led by SCC working with partners, Heeley City Farm and Green Estate Ltd. Green Estate is a not for profit organisation and this initiative helped to deliver its social and environmental goals. The aim was to divert organic matter from landfill and increase Sheffield’s recycling figures while also reducing the carbon footprint of transportation.
